In August of 2021 uniform members of the Niagara Regional Police Service investigated allegations of two separate assaults, one of which, was against a minor that occurred on August 14, 2021, during a horse protest in the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

At approximately 2:45pm, an altercation ensued between the 17 year old female and a 69 year old female.

A woman then attended the location to confront protesters. 

Two parties were subsequently taken into custody, however were released on scene pending further investigation. Subsequently, members of the Niagara Regional Police, 2 District Criminal Investigation Bureau were notified and continued the investigation. 

As a result of the investigation, there was no evidence that the 17 year old victim had been assaulted however, evidence did exist that a 35 year old female approached a protester and allegedly swatted a cell phone out of her hand. 

The victim did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of the incident.

On Saturday, September 4, 2021, Elizabeth Beattie (35 years old) of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following offence of:


Beattie was released on a Form 10 with a future court date.
